HMH Counseling offers both out-of-pocket/private pay and insurance options. Some clients choose to pay directly to avoid insurance company requirements. Insurance companies require a mandatory diagnosis for billing. Private pay allows the client to decide the duration and frequency of treatment, rather than being dictated by insurance. Finally, records can stay completely private, rather than being forced to inform insurance companies of treatment and diagnoses.

Initial Appointment – 50 minutes | $150.00

Individual therapy – 50 minutes | $150.00

In-Network Coverage

Accepted Insurance Plans

We accept select insurance plans for in-network coverage through Alma, with availability subject to change. Currently, we work with the following plans on a limited basis: Aetna and Optum.

Please note that Medicare and Medicaid plans are not accepted at this time.

Out-of-Network Coverage (In cases where we are unable to accept your insurance)

Mentaya: Get Money Back on Out-of-Network Therapy Sessions with Ease

  • We have partnered with Mentaya, a platform that helps clients get money back on out-of-network therapy sessions.
  • Mentaya will file claims and handle the insurance paperwork to make sure you get reimbursement.
  • They charge a 5% fee per claim.
  • Mentaya has helped people get thousands of dollars back per year.
  • You would be responsible for paying the full rate after each individual therapy session
  • Participation is completely optional.
  • Your therapist does not benefit in any way from your participation.

Directly Handling the Process with Your Insurance

  • We can provide a superbill (receipt) for your insurance company to reimburse.
  • You would be responsible for paying the full rate for each session upfront.
  • Submit the provided superbill at the end of the month.
  • Please note that if you choose to submit the superbill directly, you must manage the entire process, including filing the claim and handling the insurance paperwork.

Understanding Your Insurance Coverage

To determine if your insurance provider offers out-of-network coverage for mental health services, we recommend contacting them directly. That way you can avoid any surprises down the road. They will be able to provide you with the specific details regarding your coverage:

Do I have mental health insurance benefits?

What is my deductible, and has it been met?

How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?

What is the coverage amount per therapy session?

Is approval required from my primary care physician?

Payment and Cancellation Policy

Forms of Payment

We accept all major credit cards as forms of payment to provide convenience and flexibility for our clients.

Cancellation/No Show Policy

If you are unable to attend a session, please make sure to cancel within 24 hours or you will be charged a $75.00 fee.

Good Faith Estimate Notice

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
